10 Tips to Increase Blog Traffic
Filed in: SEO Beginner, Weblog — June 23rd, 2006Markus Merz has a list of tricks to increasing blog traffic. He calls it as “My cooking recipe for fast SEO results“. Here is the excerpt.
- Claim your blog at Technorati like services.
- Pinging Pingoat or Ping-O-Matic.
- Use FeedBurner for feed publishing.
- Bookmark every article at del.icio.us.
- Use extensive tagging and keywording inside your articles and on services like del.icio.us.
- Trackback, if you write about another blog or linking to other blogs.
- Use Flickr for your photos. Link to the articles in your Flickr descriptions. Don’t forget to tag your photos.
- Always ask permission before you use other people’s pictures. After publishing the picture, add a comment to the photo used (e.g Flickr photo) with a link to your article.
- If you are linking to somebody, send them an email about your link. Ask them to inform you if they have something interesting for you to blog about.
- Add a link to a keyword in Wikipedia whenever possible.

My two cents
By the way, if you follow the workflow, you will find that the checklist probably takes longer time than writing a post! However, I assure you that it will increase your website traffic.
Basically, I have done the same things as in the list, excerpt using Flickr for photo hosting. I am tempting to get a Flickr Pro account to host my photos. Hmm.. probably after I own a digital camera?
