3,000 Blogs Shut Down Without Notice
Filed in: Technology, Web, Weblog — June 17th, 2004Winer, a champion of blogging and the publishing format Really Simple Syndication (RSS), said in an interview that he had to move the Web logs, or blogs, to his personal server from UserLand, a software company he founded in 1998 and left two years ago. But upon discovering the traffic load and time commitment involved in hosting the free sites, he chose to turn them off without notice.

Thought:
Tho we should thanks Winer for contribution to RSS(I eat RSS feeds hourly!), but he should at least gives a prior notice, a time period enough for bloggers to backup/save their blogs.
I have similar experience that my previous server suddenly goes offline and all my files are lost in space… Losing a blog site just like lost personal diary, it really make people feel lost.
