Streamyx Down… Again!

Once again, I am blogging this using my reliable 56k modem and dialup account…

The DSL light keeps flashing non-stop for the whole night. If lucky, it get connected at slower speed(256k on my 512k line) but it disconnected again after awhile… #$@#$^%$%

The streamyx line down really spoiled my mood… :(

Checked in tmnet newsgroup – tmnet.streamyx, there are other users having the same problem as me. Fortunely, I am not alone. :P

*sigh* Paying RM88 per month and get nothing? What da…

Hopefully this will not last long. Hopefully this is due to the maintenance and everything will be all right later.

I really hate to see the light flashing again! Keep the light ON!!!

  • actually it's not streamyx that is down when the light flashes but that your signal is messed up. Do you have your line split to a modem and a phone?
    if you do - here's what you can do to reset the modem light. Pick up the phone, check for dial tone. if you have one, put the phone down and
    pick up again. The modem light should start blinking rapidly. Put down your phone receiver after a few seconds, the light on your modem should steady .
    And you're back online. This has worked every single time I try it - it's the workaround that even the telekom technician doesnt know about :)
    The thing is - streamyx is actually up even when the lights blink, the problem is our lines.
  • normally, what i'll do is, i'll tweak the noise ratio to get better performance... yea, you can tweak it to make it faster too, but really, i don't recommend it because you can fry the modem.

  • I know exactly how you feel man. When I got my Streamyx I had the same problem. Do what prema says and make sure you have ADSL filter on ALL your phone lines.

    My friends have really interesting names for Streamyx. My favourite is TMNut Slowmyx :o)
  • yup - LCF - pick up, put down - if no effect, try again. Usually within 2 minutes my signal is reset.
    I don't know if your issue is due to poor signal - best thing is to check with telekom, SOME of their customer service is very good at troubleshooting, others suck.
    What I notice with my like (i'm in PJ) is that the line drops during bad weather. I have no clue why. But with my reset trick, not a problem any more :)

    i got the same problem, stupid dsl light, i think the modem restarted by itself, and when i play onlinegame, i got disconnected, ^#$%%# dam i hate tat.. some guy from the tmnet coop came and check it, and guess wat he said, IS FINE! and he stared me like an idiot, just becos im a 15y/o boy does't mean tat i sux in com ok. CAN ANY1 TELL ME WHY THE MODEM RESTARTED?

    tmnet streamyx is totally [censored] head! the upload speed is too slow n bullshit! the operator will always act non understand for what i'm asked! i'm give up already! i already made 30 of complain regarding my upload speed. but that [censored] lame dead bull is do nothinG!!!

    dammit! they burn my money every month but i got nothing for that! do something to increasing TMNET QUALITY!

    what upload speed do you expected? The upload speed is lower than download speed.

    steamyx is suck!after checking speedometer it shows it works at 20-50 while it suppose 2 b 512..always got interrupted after 15-20 mins.it restarted again!wat the hell?so any suggestions from anyone who knows how 2 fix it?

    My line is extremely slow. actually the link is there, just can't browse. even browse to tm.net.my also need a few minus. sometimes cannot display the page if take too long. is it the above solution apply for this situation. thx.

    Of Course slow, streamyx actually base on copper line that is our telephone line. If compare with other country such as japan or taiwan, they use fibre optic or i use to call gold line.

    Tm net should consider upgrade whole malaysia telephone line. Such as in state of Putrajaya, UOG, Cyberjaya all line base on ISDN line already.
