It is Hitachi’s Deskstar 7K400. Drive capacity is 400GB!

Here is the specs:
Capacity – up to 400 GB
Rotational Speed – 7200 RPM
Interface standard – Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s (Serial) ATA Ultra 100 (Parallel)
Average seek time – 8.5 ms

How big is 400GB?
Well, you can store up to 100, 000 MP3 files!

  • 10 000 mp3? one mp3 is about 4 MB.. assume the worst and it's 5MB... so 5 X 10 000 is only 50 000 MB = 50GB ?
    400 GB is like 8 times larger than that.

    basically, 400GB hdd is for video editing company.
    Edit on hdd, backup to tape.
  • if you gonna use hundreds of gigs sized hdd, better run them on raid, at least mirroring.

    lol this was 2004, largest HDD now is 2 terabytes. 2,000 gigs. lol.
