The Microsoft’s First Open Source Software
Filed in: Microsoft, Open Source, Technology — April 8th, 2004No, I am not kidding.
For the first time, Microsoft have released an open source software – Windows Installer XML(WiX) – into SourceForge.net, the world’s largest Open Source software development website.
What is WiX?
The Windows Installer XML (WiX) is a toolset that builds Windows installation packages from XML source code. The toolset supports a command line environment that developers may integrate into their build processes to build MSI and MSM setup packages.

Thought:
It is nice to see that Microsoft finally willing to reveal some of its codes. Anyway, no core codes will be released as open source. Don’t dream on getting the open source version of Microsoft Windows! (except the leaked codes…
) More MS open source will coming.
