UNOFFICIAL Windows98SE Service Pack

Windows 98 Second Edition(SE) user? There is an UNOFFICIAL service pack for Windows 98 SE English.

Microsoft has never released a service pack for Windows98 SE. But I made a Service Pack for Windows98 SE users. It contains all Windows98 SE updates from Windows Update site and more.
It is a self-extracting and self-installing pack like Microsoft’s update files. Thus, you cannot choice files individually. However, the pack installs only required fixes for your system. Uninstallation is possible from Add-Remove Programs. However, I don’t recommend uninstallation of the pack, if you don’t have any problem.
This is only for WINDOWS 98 SECOND EDITION ENGLISH. I highly recommend that you should backup your system before installing the pack.
It contains only operating system updates. It does NOT contain Internet Explorer 6, DirectX 9, Media Player 9 and their updates.
Actually, the original is from a taiwanese, who released traditional chinese version of Windows 98SE service pack. If you read chinese, there has more detail information on the service pack.

Eventhough Microsoft’s support for Windows 98 has been extended to June 30, 2006, but Win98 user will only able to update critical security fixes from WindowsUpdate. How about the non-critical security fix? Sorry, not available.
The Windows 98 service pack is definately a good news for current Win98 users. However, since it is unofficial version, please make sure you have do a backup before install the service pack to avoid any lost of data!
