CoolTechZone writes in AMD introduces new Athlon 64 processors :

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), world’s second largest chip maker, launched its four new processors based on the Athlon 64 architecture today at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan. The new models include – 3500+, 3700+, 3800+, and FX-53.

These chips come in AMD’s long-awaited Socket-939 packaging. AMD hopes to discontinue Socket-754, make Socket-939 mainstream, and turn Socket-940 for high-end desktop computers. Various online reports confirm the performance to be not as impressive as many analysts thought, which might force AMD to work with a new market strategy.

AMD’s new chips, which use Socket-939 will use the same chipsets as the 754-packaging. The main difference will be the Socket packaging and dual unbuffered memory controller. These chipsets include – K8T800 Pro, NForce 3 250 Ultra, and SiS 755.

ExtremeTech.com have review the new AMD Athlon 64 3800+ and Athlon 64 FX-53.
