  • hmm...it's true for home users but not for businesses. we have licenced copies of all software, and even a db to keep track of everything if an audit comes. i don't know why they do this since i've never heard of audits in sarawak, but i guess they just want to err on the side of caution.

btw, i recommended linux, one of my boxes is running that, but all others are windows, coz most people can't get the hang of linux even with a GUI like Gnome or KDE. *shrugs*

and i'll admit something, that box is linux coz i don't want anyone touching it except me. hehe! i have another windows box which is password protected, but i swear, you can do just about anything on linux and it looks like you're working real hard while you may be browsing websites with lynx. heh!

"you can do just about anything on linux and it looks like you’re working real hard while you may be browsing websites with lynx."

    I totally agree that.

Well, there are still many pirated softwares in business offices. Perhaps I was so "lucky"? Your company is good example. *thumb up*

Issue is alot of company cannot afford commercial software products. Choosing to use pirated commercial software products is not the way.

If company see worth using commercial software product, pay up. Else use other alternatives.

MS major problem is pirated software. Can be seen as lost revenue.

I think that with alternatives like Linux available in so many versions, you can easily download a copy which suits your needs.Open office works fine or I would say better than Microsoft Office 2003 Professional.I don't care a damn about Microsoft or Bill Gates, I think all they want is software monopoly. I mean - just look at them they are now developing games even to tap the gaming market - Greedy Bastards.Guys I have been working in Linux for the past two years - yes I agree that initially it seems difficult but once you get the hang of it you will fall in love with it.
