Got a resume update reminder from JobsDB.com, when I try to login to update my information. I got this:

We apologize that “MyJobsDB member section” only supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP at this moment because of incompatible behavior on other browsers and operating systems especially in supporting XML.

Other browser(e.g. Mozilla, Firefox) is not compatible to support XML?! :???:

  • yup, i agree.. it's not that firefox not XML compatible
but it seem the programmer who made it prevent any other browser except IE :P..

Note that support XML doesn't means support RSS feed, though RSS feeds use XML. There are many use of XML.

The jobsdb does not support other browser because they does not code the website to be cross browser compatible.
  • many thanks for taking the time to answer and for referring me to that site. it is very informative.
let me provide u with an insight i have. the RSS is clogging the n
net, that is why myjobsearch is not entertaining other browsers.

Sorry for the short reply. != is a Not equal sign in programming languages.
For different between Java & JavaScript, you may refer to:

there has been a court ruling where microsoft cannot use javascript
anymore. they lost the case brought by sunmicrosystem. i think it
explains why u cannot access it with ur mozilla etc, microsoft have
to remove this whatsit that enable other systems to talk to Internet
explorer. u can solve it like i did, just download java from the
sunmicrosystem website. maybe it is too simple a solution and may no
    not satisfy u.
or it may not work. hahaa

hi, tx for the answer. bear with me, i am sure all of ur know
what it is about, but pl explain more for people like me who
are not familiar with the jargon. is java the same as javascript?
if not , why the = sign ; or is it irony? if it is too complicated
to explain here pl refer me to some url which will explain it
    plain english. thanks.

    Note: java != javascript
  • isn't the whole raison d'ete of java is to be compatible with
every system and enable different systems to talk to each other?

I guess they must be using javascript that is incompatible with non-IE browsers.
  • boycott the jobsdb site. and write a letter9mail0 to them regarding this stupid act.
  • not sure about that :)
  • I had the same problem last week. I'm using Firefox now on my
Powerbook so can only access JobsDB at the office :?:
