One Week with Dad
Filed in: Life Log — September 30th, 2004
Few hours later, my dad will go back to his work place and the next time we meet will be Chinese New Year. I don’t really chat with Dad these few days. The time we spend together are meal times.
Well, dad will not has the chance to eat Malaysia food at his work place. Therefore, he really enjoy eating each time he back home. “Everytime when you back is thin and back to work with fat stomach”, said Mom to Dad. (Not only Dad’s, mine as well!)
I know mother is very happy these few days. She looks much better than the last time when I back home. Mom talks more, laughes more and eat more.
Dad is old already. He can’t see, hear and remember things clearly. Yet, these do not stop him from learning. As usual, he bought alot of books for self-skill enhancement. Dad even asked me to buy a PDA (Palm Tungsten E, to be exact) and key in addresses from his torn address book, by himself. (He don’t really want us to help him, anyway)
I really respect Dad.
Why does he study so hard? In my opinion, if Dad does not upgrade himself, he will be kicked out by his boss. Why work so hard even reached his retired age? For his family, of course.
Dad never nagging for anything (He seldom got the chance to stay at home and nagging, anyway). But he really REALLY cares about our studies. He can sacrified anything for it, I think. Fortunely, we do not failed him that much. At least two out of four of his children are degree gradudated. My elder brother even got his Master last year. Left only my younger brother… we don’t give him any pressure. (I doubt he will feel it even we “press” him. )
Hmmm… Hopefully we can let Dad retired soon and let him have much more time to stay with Mom.
Happy Belated Mid-Autumn Festival!
