I use dialup connection since my streamyx went death… However, even dialup connection is not foolproof.

I cannot connect using my dialup account since yesterday. It tells me that my username or password is mismatched. But I can tell it that my login information is absolutely correct!

Okay, maybe it is the server fault. So I try connecting using my housemate’s dialup account… it connected!

Duh. Play me huh?

I immediately goto Tmnet Customer Care website to check my account information.

Hey, I can login the website using my account username and password!? How come I cannot use the same information to connect? :???:

Hmm… Somebody using my dialup account?!

Unless my account is hacked, nobody else know my account information. I wonder who will hack a dialup account while he can get broadband. Anyway, I changed the my account password.

Logout customer care website and relogin using new password. It works fine. Okay, now try to connect using my new password…

Ish! Still CANNOT!

Well, I am sure that something wrong with Tmnet(again). I asked in tmnet.support newsgroup and get the following feedback just now:

That is quite normal when you are dealing with TMNut :-)
My friend cannot check his account through http://tmbill.tm.net.my
but using my computer in my house he can login :-)

So… having problem with Tmnet is NORMAL. Believe It or Not? Believe it.

Thought:
Actually, cannot connect using correct username and password is normal problem, usually after thunderstorm and will be fine after few hours. But this time, my account cannot connect for over 24 hours and counting…

What I don’t really feel happy is that I am good customer who clear tmnet bill monthly, but my housemate have NOT pay his bill for months! Yet, his account can use, mine CANNOT!

Tmnet, you still expect I pay you timely huh?

P/S: http://tmbill.tm.net.my does not works well with Mozilla.

  • I often have the same problem with TMNet. I put in the correct username and password, and it says they're not correct. I try it a couple dozen times, and suddenly it works. Seems to happen sporadically.

TMNET really sucks......usually no accepted explanation. what we can do? we leave in malaysia...all we need to say is tidapa attitude.
  • Just call their helpdesk and ask them to release your terminal. The helpdesk person will ask your username and passw etc. This is normal (for TMnet tho ) to have a "hang terminal" and sometimes even worst ; a "hang node".

If your account is in use by someone else, you can ask the HelpDesk to trace it but you must file a formal report tho and i'm not going to waste my time :) . Here's a tip to speedup your connection, DON'T use PowerSurf. If you guys really want some control over your connection, several steps is vital:

    1. Turn OFF images, multimedia, javascripts - You might want to enable javascript while using your web-based emails or online banking.

    2. Use a remote proxy with a low ping strings.
    3. Tweak your dialup. ( http://www.speedguide.net/ )

To be honest, better use some nice web-filtering tool. Please use Proxomitron to filter out all those junks. Proxomitron IS A MUST for any internet connection ( esp dialups ).
