Firefox PR1.0 Cannot Search in Textarea?!

I have upgraded to Firefox Preview Release 1.0(PR1.0) from version 0.9.3. Everything works fine and most “must have” extensions have the upgraded version to support PR1.0. However, I found a small problem in PR1.0 that the new search bar does not jump to search keyword in textarea.

As far as I remember, the previos version has no problem to search inside a textarea. It will jump to the keyword found in the page, as well as in the textarea. But comes to PR1.0, the new search bar do NOT jump to the keyword found in textarea. It only jump to the keyword found in the page, not in textarea. Anyway, the “Highlight” DOES work for textarea, though “Find Next/Previous” do not.

I am not sure this is a bug or what. Please let me know your finding or solution. :)

  • I'm trying to figure this one out too... Although I've never been able to search 'textarea' boxes with Firefox (I've use 0.8, 0.9, now 1.0). Any luck?

  • Same problem here... Editing contents of a textarea with no search function is such a nightmare... time to switch back to IE?

Yeah - the same - my work is 80% based on working(editing text) in text-area and it really pisses me off when I have to copy and paste the contents of the text-area in some external editor just to find a word. Please notify me on my email kukuvica2001@yahoo.com if you have found a cure.
    Thanx in advance.

This is one of the most annoying bugs ever and no one is willing to fix it.

retrofind is awful. you can use SearchWP

    http://www.legege.com/mozilla/searchwp.php

and it miraculously finds and finds words within textareas, though it supposedly can't be done.
