Thanks LcF and browncjw, checked out the sites you suggested and liked the Pay As You Go with Courer vault and YouSend it ease of use.

I was a bit of a novice when it came to this until about three days ago. Just thought I’d help anyone else out who wanted to know…

I needed to send 3.8GB worth of animation and video to a client and of course had no joy through compression or splitting the files. Still wouldn’t email.

Had a little play on the net and there are loads of sites that allow you to send large files through their servers. Some are free, some are slow, some just don’t feel secure. After much research my top three are:

Courier Vault – http://www.couriervault.com This site was excellent. Very simple and very professional. They charge you for what you send but you definitely get what you pay for and the upload speed was immense. Easily the best.

Media Max – http://www.mediamax.com Good site. Again, they just look professional. A little slow and not as much functionality or ease as use as Courier but still a good site.

Yousendit.com – http://www.yousendit.com I think judging by the search engine results this is just about the biggest one out there. It’s free to use but you can see why. The uploads are slow and the pop ups make me a little uneasy but for ease of use and for free, it’s great.

@johnn22: the recipient do NOT receive the file as an attachment. The recipient will receive a DOWNLOAD LINK of the file. So, no worry about the mailbox size.

I checked out mofile.net and it is just like yousendit, but after all the problems I’ve had on YSI, its a better choice. I don’t really know the difference between mofile.com and mofile.net, but I was using net. Convenient site.

Recentelly I found another site, which allows you to manage your files online.

They offers 1 GB free storage space for everyone. Most importantly, they enables resume upload from a previous stop point. That’s very useful to upload big files.

if you use Yousendit, you don’t need to divide the file into smaller block, since it support file size up to 1GB.

imagine Firefox extension which makes fragmentation of file to small blocks and uploads it to yousendit or youshareit or any other service like this. then fetch links and stores them in text file or post automatically on specified forum
