The Story of 50 Cents
Filed in: Life Log — December 10th, 2004Today my elder brother is not free to fetch me back. So, I need to take two trips of bus to go back — office to town, then town to home. It’s okay. I want to buy PC magazines and topup my mobile phone credit, anyway.
Due to some work, I back quite late today. When I am waiting at the bus stop, there are two girls. One is my company staff, another is a student in t-shirt, looks like just back from school activity. Most of the Kluang bus do not have ticket seller already, you need to prepare enough coins, no note accepted.
Oh No! I forgot that I need to take bus today, I paid lunch with all my coins! ![]()
How? Borrow from colleague? She is busy talking on the phone… Borrow from the girl? …wish the coming bus has ticket seller loh~
Wait… wait… the bus finally come… My colleague get up the bus very fast before I ask her for some coins.
Then I turn to the girl, “this bus accept note or not ah?”. The girl says nothing but show me the RM1 note in her hand. I don’t understand. While I am thinking what does she mean, she get up to the bus already…
“Uncle, RM10 accept or not?”, I ask the bus driver.
“Masuk! Masuk! Tak payah lagi! Ah moi sudah bayar!”, the bus driver tell me don’t need to pay because the girl already paid my ticket fee. (Each ticket is 50 cents, she put in RM1)
Oh… ![]()
“Thank you ah. Later I pay you back.”, I say to the girl.
“… Oh… never mind.”, she smiles.
“Later arrive bus station, I goto buy magazine then got coins to pay her back loh~ Later ask her to wait me awhile.”, I am thinking.
When about arriving bus station, I bravely(I am shy!) ask her to wait me. “It’s okay. Never mind.”, she speak English to me?! Maybe she thought I don’t understand “never mind” in mandarin? All right, since you insists then I save 50 cents loh~ ![]()
After bought magazines, mobile phone topup and VCDs, I back to bus station wait for the second trip bus to back home.
Guess what! She is also waiting bus there!
But, now I have RM1 note… still don’t have any coins!
“Hi, I have RM1 note now…”, I told her.
“Never mind… I don’t have any coin.”, she smiles.
Okay… not me don’t want to return back oh~
When my bus come, she also stand up from her seat.
“You also this bus ah?”, I asked.
“Ya…”, she nods.
Hey, she is same bus with me! Surprised!
The ticket fee is 50 cents also, but this time we got driver to sell tickets. I gave RM1 and got 50 cents back. All right, now I have 50 cents to return back to the girl. ![]()
I sit in front, she sits at the back. When the bus about to start, I stand up and walk to the girl. She is folding something.
“Now I got 50 cents to return to you. Thank you.”, I put the 50 cent coin on her palm. She stared at me for a second then smiles back. I guess she is thinking that I am such a stubborn guy. ![]()
When I get down the bus, I notice she turns back and looks at me… I think she has a unforgotten evening today. ![]()
(tak malunya~!)
