There is an interesting speed comparisons between popular browsers nowadays. The tested browsers are Mozilla, Firefox, Konqeror, Opera, etc. Of course, Internet Explorer is included. I am quite surprised by the result.

So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features.

Thought:
Firefox is SLOWER than the Internet Explorer?! My experience tells me that Firefox is faster… Anyway, I installed the Opera 8 beta for testing, since it is the fastest browser in the comparisons. The Opera 8 beta has cleaner interface, except the top Google text ads bar.

However, I still feels that Firefox is faster… maybe Firefox display content as soon as they are downloaded?

Well, we don’t know how accurate are the tests and should not blindly follows the benchmark results. You choose the one that you comfortable with. But, avoid Internet Explorer lah~, for security reasons. (My manager’s PC just hijacked by spywares this week)

BTW, I almost switching to K-Meleon now…

  • Using K-Meleon after using firefox for sometime, feels like trying to drive a car with 3 wheels. Something just doesn't feel right. IMHO opera is the fastest of all those browsers. But nothing beats the speed of dillo though, technically you don't get framse and javascript :P
