FireTune

FireTune for Mozilla Firefox v1.x was developed for an easy and fast optimization of your browsing experience with Firefox. It is based on a collection of popular and well working optimization settings used and tested by the experts. Usually you have to optimize Firefox manually, which can be time consuming and difficult for the novice user. FireTune helps you here – it includes all the performance optimizations. The only thing you must do is: make your selection. FireTune does the work for you.

I use “slow computer / fast connection” for my P3 computer. From the result of http://www.numion.com/stopwatch/, I get 2 seconds faster than before optimization on loading LiewCF.com. Quite impressive! :)

Thought:
A good tool for Firefox user to save your trouble on Firefox optimization. Click and done.

Note: remember to backup your profile! The tool has buttons to backup and restore user profile, use them!

  • hmmm.....I am using devs build of Firefox....wonder if it works with devs build of Firefox...........
  • The tuning works.

I've checked the option of "Performance tweaks common to all configurations", and selected "Fast Computer, Slower Connection" (According to the manual, I interpreted my 512k connection as slower connection)
  • how to backup profile? what's this profile anyway? i just started to use firefox after my PC had been 'rejunevated'.

what about the favorites? they won't be lost?
  • @lucia: see the big "create backup of configuration" button? Click it to backup your profile. A profile contains all user settings, including your bookmark/favorites. The optimization does not delete your bookmark.
  • Firefox's profile is located in the folder Documents and Settings

    :)

best you don't go exploring there unless you know what you are doing...
