Finally, I decided to upgrade LiewCF.com to Wordpress 1.5. I was planning to wait ALL the plugins that I use in WP 1.2.2 to be upgraded to version 1.5 before I upgrade the blog script.

However, seems like I can’t wait anymore, the comment system of WP 1.2.2 does not work correctly recently – permalink page cannot be displayed if there is comment.

I installed WP 1.5 into another directory (/blog), copy and upgrade the WP 1.2.2 database. Everything works fine, including the comment system.

Therefore, I decided to officially upgrade LiewCF.com. Upgrade is easy, but the later work like redirect all previous paths to current is a bit tricky.

Also, I need to search and install suitable Wordpress 1.5 plugins, add top navigation menu, forum, etc.

Ahh… and Google Adsense! The income drop alot in these few days… :(

Looks odd now not having your right navigation bar. I think it's easier to navigate with the old bar on the right :)

ya, I am implementing it. :)
  • welcome to 1.5
  • Ya, welcome to Wordpress 1.5.

I just started using it for only 1 month, and i'm lovin' it. :)
  • Why did you choose Word Press? Does it have certain advantages over MT?
  • and your blogads maybe? the ads with big mic...(i think)
  • LcF
oh. the previous blogads ad has end the advertising subscribtion period(2 weeks). Now waiting for next advertiser...

what are the add-ins/plug-ins/extentions that you used ? mind to share ?
  • seems like u took away the google search box. btw i suppose ur google adsense revenue all came from search instead of adsense ads? never noticed any ads displayed...
  • LcF
@red: no, google search does not even give me $1 per month! Since the WP search can return more accurate result(do not need to wait Google to index the pages), I decided to remove google search.

you don't see ad? Maybe your browser's ad block has blocked Google adsense. :|
  • cchiuyi
he he he, thast the killing feature of firefox. blocks 99% of ads.
  • cchiuyi
anyway, thankz for the plug ins... appreciate it.
  • LcF
@cchiuyi: come one~ read the ads to support me! ;)
  • cchiuyi
he he he he, honestly, i do click on links that suits me. as long as it suit me. i'll click. i don't block GAds. co its relevent.

i signed up for mor ethan one year, and my total is not even close to USD$10.. cry. :
  • ermm i could see adsense ads on my gmail with firefox though. same thing with ie, couldn't see adsense ads either, i wonder why -_-

how come google search didn't give u even $1 per month? i thought mentioned u received 100+ from them for the first and second month. did u mean those are all from the ads instead of the search?
  • LcF
@red: I hate your browsers. :P Ya, the 100+ were generated from webpage ads, not from ads in search.

Note: visitor search using Google adsense search does not generate any revenue. They still need to click on the ads in search result page to give you income.
  • yep i know about the click on search thing :)

lol i'm trying to figure out what happened to my browsers, i remember i could still see google ads on sites, just recently i realized i see none except on gmail and google itself, seems like the javascript got blocked out by something, couldn't be my antivirus though.

so yeah i hate it too coz i can't see it, didn't even realize i chose the wrong display format for my adsense until i asked a friend to checked few mins ago :)
  • it gets interesting though, i notice i couldn't load the adsense javascript http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/sho... , can't even access http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/ (i get connection is refused message) while i could if i use one of the anonymous surfing service on the web. could u manually load the javascript? if u could then i guess that's my problem, weird but true.
  • anyway, figured out what's wrong and solved the problem :)
  • Personally, I never use more than a single link in the comment I post because doing so can trigger spam catchers if the user has that plugin activated, whereas a single link will not.
