iProtectYou is a Internet Filtering/Parental Control package that provides parents with control over Internet usage.
It allows to block e-mails, chat sessions and instant messages that contain inappropriate words, stop annoying ads, and/or restrict internet time to a pre-determined schedule.
You have full control over which web sites can be accessed and which programs can have Internet access.

Recently the Malaysia goverment concern very much about the porn content in Internet, and looking for a way to filter adult websites.
It reminds me the iProtectYou freeware. I intro it to a friend when he asked for content filter in Firefox for her daughters.
Here is his testimonial after using it:
I thought it uses the proxy setting to block the sites but I was wrong. After I installed it, all adult sites pop up warnings, “Do your homework”, “You cannot view this page” … etc. Then my daughters’ barbie.com and pollypocket.com also unavailable. Luckily there is an option to exclude trusted sites. Although it is not foolproof, yet it is better than nothing.
There is no perfect software(free or paid) for content filter, the most effective filter still is the education.
