Ooops..

Not to be dishartened. ebay malaysia…. not really working… I do not think online auction is really working that well in general over here. some recent survey shows that the young surfers r not really into it (Maybe not much $$$) (http://star-techcentral.com/tech/story.asp?file=/2007/3/30/technology/20070330201346&sec=technology). The adults…. well… prefer a established way to buy things + get the extra SERVICES.

American are spendthrift… half the time poor before they got old (some can afford it). I really do not think Malaysian can emulate that. A very different market behaviour, I think. But if you like to sell and make profits, sell it to Americans, they buy without thinking apparently. Good Luck.

I guess we can’t blame eBay if they’re gonna close it down. In Malaysia, most auctioners prefer to use Lelong/BuySell site compared to ebay malaysia.

As someone who’s made most of her online purchase on US eBay (& just can’t get enough of it!), I couldn’t agree more… eBay Malaysia is deader than a ghost town! I mean, what happened?? eBay is supposed to be this exciting online flea market concept, but… compared to the 24/7 active, vibrant atmosphere of its mother site, eBay Malaysia is a total dullsville… even the layout is BORING! It’s like the local administration couldn’t care less about attracting customers… is it any wonder then that people would rather go elsewhere to shop?? Even other eBay sites in Asia are more ‘alive’ compared to the roadkill that is ours. Then, there’s the prevailing issue of fake goods being sold in carefree abundance on the site… WHY hasn’t the local eBay administration done anything to stop this? Don’t they know that it’s against eBay policy to sell counterfeit stuff???

Ebay Malaysia is a joke. Its categories are a joke. Arguably I have bid and received some of the items, but banking in a 4 figure sum and not receiving my item was the last straw. Many complaints to ebay malaysia did not yield any real result, to start of with there isnt a single-point-responsibility for complaints and fraudsters. And the same ***hole that cheated me did the same to 3 others. Now he’s gone cuz his ID was a fake one. Really, what a joke. Lelong is so much better. I have initiated a police report but thats another force to ‘reckon’ with.

ebay is just a middleman between seller and buyer … so when you bid on something and paid for it, it depends on the selleer whther he is an honest one or the fraud type …

ebay cant do anything when the seller does not post the item you paid for but what they will do is pass on the info of the fraudster to the fraudsters country … and it depends on the law enforcement of that country whether to take action or not ..

in malaysia, its still a risk as anyone can join ebay and they can just post in a fake name ( fake id ) …. and malaysian cyber law is still at the the premature stage …. it will be a risk ….

the fear that i have now is ebay buying over lelong like they do in india and some other european countries …. hope that wont happen …. i kinda hate ebay in certain ways …

should give ebay a chance, after all, they are opening new segment here … currently, ebay malaysia is not charging for selling and you can check with all other ebay sites in other countries, they charge … they are trying to tap into malaysian market as well. one thing bad about ebay is security, especially sellers who do not give out stuff after payments. escrow service is available but only reserve to high priced items.

again, ebay malaysia is still new … fresh competition is good and will encourage growth for malaysian auction companies

Got to agree with you man. Although Lelong.com.my looks more old school but they are more superior, faster loading and lots more item. I dun doubt Ebay capability but really, they didn’t look like they even try to at least shake the market a bit..

eBay Malaysia died after conception. There’s no proper follow up, there’s no proper administration, unrelated stuff gets thrown into irrelevant categories by overzealous sellers…

I bought a couple of stuff from eBay so I know how the thing works. But searching/browsing is a pain in the arse and after a while the novelty wears off.

If they are going to make this work, they need an admin to make sure everything is in the right place.

50 offers to sell a Gmail account at RM1 each in every category should be disallowed.

And the site loads v-e-r-y-s-l-o-w.
