Have you notice it yet? Wordpress.org removed all Google Adsense ads and switched to AdBrite text links.

Unlike Google Adsense which pay you for clicks, AdBrite sells your ad space for text links.

If advertiser buy your ad space yet, you can choose to display contextual ads links. AdBrite will pay you by clicks on the ad links(like Google Adsense). AdBrite is almost the combination of BlogAds and Google Adsense.

According to the ad space purchace page, 1-Day Text Link on Wordpress.org will cost USD$6. Each ads block in WordPress.org display three text links.

However, the ads may not revelant to the site content anymore:

Thought:
We don’t know the real reason of WordPress.org switch. It is high traffic site and should get more revenue than selling the ad space. Well, probably the click thru rate is $%^& low?

I haven’t seriously try AdBrite, since I am now getting quite stable revenue from Google Adsense. Maybe I will implement it on my new site.

I am not sure whether you can use AdBrite along with Google Adsense or not. Probably the anwer is “No” or only use as Adsense alternative URL. Need to confirm with Google Adsense team.

  • Google says you can't share AdSense's space with another contextual ads program (those that show ads depending on the text in your page). So I believe it is perfectly ok =)
  • Speaking of which... I noticed your site has more ads now :D

@Chewxy: thanks for reminder. I cut down adsense ads to two now. :)
  • Google gave me the answer "Yes". You can display both adsense and adbrite in the same page as long as it is not network ads from adbrite, which mimic Google adsense.

As you may know, Google AdSense program policy does not permit Google ads
to be published on the same web page as other contextually-targeted ads.
More broadly, our policy does not permit Google ads to be displayed on the
same website as ads that mimic or attempt to be associated with Google
    ads.

According to these program policies, AdBrite ads may be displayed on a
site that shows AdSense ads. As AdBrite enables publishers to sell ads
directly on their site, therefore, it is the publisher's responsibility to
ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads. Please note, we do allow
    affiliate or limited-text links.

For publishers participating in AdSense for search, please keep in mind
that we do not allow other search services or query-targeted ads to be
displayed on the same site as AdSense for search.

Our intent with this policy is to be as fair to our advertisers as
possible and to maintain the integrity of the AdWords and AdSense
    programs.

    Thank you, Leng Chian.
That means we can sell the ad space using AdBrite but not displaying contextual ads from AdBrite?
  • It would be same as BlogAds if you don't display AdBrite's network ads since you are selling your ad space :)
  • This article is highly misleading, there is no Adbrite or Yahoo or Adsense anywhere on WordPress.org that I know of. We experimented with Adbrite about a year ago, obviously there is still some vestigal listing on the Adbrite site.

Note how the page says "This site is inactive."
