Images above ads is an effective way to boost CTR. However, does it compliant to Google Adsense TOS?

The tip to add images above(or surround) Adsense ads had been proven very effective CTR and it has separating among adsense publishers for a couple of months. (To your surprise, it is a tip from a Malaysian.)

Google noticed it.

After Google introduced dynamic number of ads in an ad unit, Jenstar got Google Adsense reply about the tip:

“Publishers are still welcome to place images above the ads. The only exception is if it’s in such a way that it looks like the images are part of the ads.

When something like that comes to our attention, we’ll ask that the publisher place a visible border between the ads and the images, to make it clear that the images are not being served by Google on behalf of the advertisers. We generally do not ask publishers to remove the images completely, we just ask that they add borders to avoid confusion.”

With the ads border, the images are clearly separte from the adsense ads. The tip does not work as expected anymore.

Tip: Remove ads border is one of the most effective method to increase CTR.

Now, publishers are looking for another tips.

Thought:
Publishers are always looking for new tips to increase CTR. I think we may need to study human psycology as well. ;)
