New Life?

I am quite quiet recently. I was trying to make a decision which may change the rest of my life. Serious huh? Anyway, I think I have the decision already. Will confirm in this week, hopefully.

Last week my dad asked me when he fetched me to office.

Dad: “Are you able to expand your Internet revenue?”
Me: “Sure.”
Dad: “How about open a company?”
Me: (huh?! Open a company?!) “I am still working?!”
Dad: “You can register a company and hire someone to assist you. Then you don’t need to work until so late every night.”

He got the point. I can register a company and work at home. Maybe hire someone to help me, preferable a pretty girl. :mrgreen:

This week is my birthday week. I am 25 year old. I think it is time for some changes in my life. I am not well prepared. Sometimes, it is the surrounding environment pushing you forward.

  • Opening a company is really a good idea. Those computer company might well send u their product for review liew. Remember when open ask me to join , i can do it :P

    opening up a business is very good financially

    it will most probably will bring in more money BUT also more headaches and late nights and lots of hard work in the early years.

    anyway - if you want to register an enterprise or Sdn Bhd company - you can contact me for a special price.

    If you set it up alone, this situation won't change, i think.

    Anyway, I would suggest open as sole proprietorship first to avoid heavy tax and do not really have report filing. Good luck. :)

    Remember:

    Don't put all eggs in one basket. Diversify. If your revenue is only on Adsense, try to diversify. Join other affiliate program and promote.

    are u still gonna continue ur current day job? hiring an assistant might, and might not help. it depends pretty much on how much are u paying her (i use 'her' since ur hoping it's a pretty girl lol), and how efficient she is. be wise on this subject, u don't wanna end up earning a lot less than u do now :)

    your content column's width is less than 468px (for some reason u set it to 450px ?), hence not enough to show the full ads of any ads with that width...
  • Pretty girls are usually not nerds. And nerds are usually not pretty, like me. :-(

    But hey you are only 25. Don't you think its too early to venture on your own? (eventhough you're not the first) have you gotten enough contacts and business alliances? maybe you should start your freelance company WHILE clinging onto your daytime job, and only jump ship when your company is stable.

  • Hey Liew! Wishing you all the best in advance, shall you make a turning point to venture the business world. With your popularity in blogsphere and various online farums, I'm sure you'll be able to make a high profile kick start
  • Just some tips from me, U definitely need few good contacts (eg. like somebody in the publishing, tech, consumer industries) and loads of cash in bank... say thinking of advertising it offline (on prints) will have a far-greater reach out to other tech-savvy/sexy-blog readers to flock to your site. Cause even if U have a strong passion on blogging full time, it definitely need some boost from external help. Well, I definitely missing those two features. With less than six months of working experience and money, I lacked those 2 above and in some ways I think I've failed my 1st phase.
    Anyway, good luck on your new adventure (and with the sexy recruit) and happy 25th!

  • Good luck, but uh... remember the dot com bust. Churning money from the www no longer guarantees profit nowadays with competition from all sorts of wannabes out there.
  • I wish I had decided on the self-employed route at age 25. It has its ups and downs but since I decided to be self-employed around fifteen years ago life has been richer, (but not necessarily materially), more varied, more exciting, more surprising and generally more rewarding.

    Hell I now live on a beach in paradise, what could be more rewarding than that?

    Pretty girl as an assistant ~ probably a no-no ~ the pheromones always ignite unnecessary complications and life becomes like 'Hollywood Wives'. Better to get some mature and sensible assistant like 'Janet' played by Lily Tomlin in the Disney film 'The Kid'.

    Besides I think Say Leng is just surviving on what he makes and cannot even compare to LiewCF in terms of income.

    Then again two different business even though both are business based on the Internet.

    I'm more of a web programmer and that is another niche for online business too. Trying to get into 'blogging' culture to pick up additional skills before I quit my job.
