The Million Dollar Homepage

Can you earn money (a lot of money) from a BLANK homepage? The Million Dollar Homepage is selling 1,000,000 pixels of homepage space, each pixel for $1.

It is selling at a minimum 10 pixel2 block (USD100). Your advertisement will be hosted for 5 years (until 26th August 2010). The advertisement fund will help to pay the author, Alex Tew’s college fee. Read his blog for the progress of the pixel selling.

    I've found another million pixel site, this time it is UK based, selling the pixel blocks for £10. The best thing i can see about this site though is that the profits of the site go to charity!

    Also, why are some blocks smaller than others, when they're all supposed to be the same size (10 x 10)?

    In my opinion, it is not worth to buy the pixels. There are too many copycat websites now (you can see in the comments here). What is the percentage the site visitor clicks on your pixel block? You probably need buy a lot pixel blocks to have something meaningful, thus attract visitors' clicks.
  • So is it really a scam, or is it legitimate? I had been told about this site and was thinking about advertising there. Please tell me if it's actually a scam. Thank you!

  • this one is the first i have seen that will post your pixel image after confirming your payment. I guess it is the New and Improved version. Wish politicians can come up with creative ways to erase the defecits.

    I found 4 new pixel sites, they are all using the same script. These give away the pixels for FREE, but you can buy the script
    for less than you pay for one block of pixels on the other sites and set it up on your own website.

    Pop Art inspired soup can mosaic. The idea is to finish with an exhibition with all the advertisers logos blown up onto a huge canvas. Links are permanent and the site forms part of a wider network of art related sites.
  • I'm thinking of offering the visitors a chance to win money also. It's been working well for me so far. I wanted to create the page depending on my personality. Giving away free ads or credits wouldn't work because there are many site that are offering free pixels but have no traffic going to them. I have a good amount of traffic slowly coming and might stick to the idea of giving away money, or better yet more money. I'll sleep over it and think about it. I think I know where I'm going with this. 99.

  • yes. make something like extra ad-space. those who is th first 100th and 500th visiting the site will get credits. when they have collect 5 credits, ther ads will be at the extra ad-space. name it with something like supporters' ads
