Do You Buy Game from Internet?
Filed in: Life Log, Web — October 13th, 2005
My first computer game shopping experience via Internet.
My younger brother found a classic 2-D spaceship game demo, shot down the enermies, got the points then can buy more advance weapons. My brother loves it! Since his birthday is coming soon, I decided to buy the game for him…
The game is about USD$20. I pay for the game using PB Visa Electron credit debit card. It is accepted, though it does not state that accept Visa Electron.
Few minutes later, I receive an email from the company. It asks me to re-confirm the phone number I submited in the order form. I explain that it is country code, area code and my phone number.
After a while, I receive the order receipt and the game download link. My brother use FlashGet, a download manager to download the game.
Everything seems working fine until the download is almost complete…
My brother tells me that the download suddenly fail. It says “download file size changed, cannot resume download”. I visit the download link manually but I get a download number exceeded error.
Oh no! It blocks my download link already!
I understand that the website prevent customer to forward the game download link to others. But it haven’t complete download it! My brother should not download the game using download manager (which open multiple connections to the server).
One lesson learned: Never use download manager to download purchased software.
What’s now? I send an email to the company and ask for help. I am now waiting for their reply… *cross fingers*
Do you have similar experience? Do you buy games online?
