If you plan to register a domain name now, Yahoo! Domain is a good choice. Register as many years as possible (maximum 5 years) to save more. Note that the Yahoo! domain normal price USD$9.95 is not cheap. If you are chasing cheap domain name registration fee, you may want to transfer domain name before your domain name offer expired.

Not the same…one is debit card, the other is credit card. You can only use visa electron when you see the visa electron card sign… :)

Btw, Yahoo domain name is not …erm…good.
  • hi Liew

you are right - very cheap - i wonder if there is any catch

hmm... I've bought a domain last monday from netfirms.com for $4.95...
    damn I dunno this...
  • Unfortunately you will find disgruntled stories on *every* domain registrar out there, because (1) human makes mistakes (2) computers make more mistakes (3) satisfied customers are the loudest.

I only have one domain on Yahoo/Melbourne IT, but so far I am pretty happy about it.
  • agree with scott. so let's not be harsh on yahoo and say it is not good.

i bought yahoo domain when it was offered at US$1.99 per year. bought 2 n fact. haven't really start using them yet so won't know yet how it is.

well, lcf, yahoo accept visa electron debit card. (what i pay with)

Thank you for the info, lucia.
  • i wonder if they accept e-gold
  • I thought that GoDaddy was cheapest. I guess I will have to do some research again.
  • Lucia, may I know which issuer's card that you are using for Visa Electron?
Coz I was planning to get one. But I just hv BSN Matrix on hand (which most of people said it is useless, I forgot which post I read from here). Damn s**t, I can't used it for PayPal activation too. What a shame about tht!
  • LcF
@San: we use Public Bank Visa Electron debit card. It is known as the BEST visa electron debit card in Malaysia. :)
  • Hello

Yahoo! Domains is a reseller, and not really a registrar by its own. So it would be painful if you need to transfer or do things to your domains afterwards - it involves Yahoo! and the real registrar causing it to be a 2 levels of support, and just imagine the time.

I don't mind paying a bit more, as long as the support is good. GoDaddy is good. RegisterFly and Yahoo! is a no no. NameCheap sounds ok too though I have never used them personally.
