Microsoft plans to ship OneCare Live starting from June 2006. Microsoft will charge USD$49.95 (RM186) per year for three PCs licenses. It will be sold online and in stores.

OneCare Live is a combination of anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall with backup features and several tune-up tools. It was first announced by Microsoft in June 2003.

My two cents

Microsoft is officially entering the antivirus market, slashing the price to beat other antivirus vendors. Norton AntiVirus 2006 Protection Pack – 3 User and McAfee VirusScan 2006 – 3 User Pack are both USD$89.99.

Will Microsoft succeed? I think so. Besides selling at a cheaper price, Microsoft will request computer vendors to bundle OneCare Live along with Windows XP (and the coming Windows Vista). How can you beat Microsoft?
