I begin to have doubts on the success of e-govt. Given so many pirated software out there, if we are all to stay legal, can u imagine how much $$$ is exported from Malaysia? Can we as a nation really afford it?

I heard BSA usually catch company with 3-5 computers and announce the catch to be worth millions..

They basically add up the cost of all the pirated softwares installed on it. and slap u with a fine worth up to that much.

I am not going to buy softwares anymore. I will use FOSS. However, hard it is.

This is the beginning of the end of pirated softwares (World Wide). The drive is to recover as much profit as possible. Those who doesn’t pay will have to pay the license or pay the fine (worst, do time in jail).

Those who post pirated software on lelong or ebay will be hunt down like wild stupid rabbit by the authorities. Listing and proof gathering is already underway. Your names are exposed, as bright as the sun, and are tied as clear as the sky to a pirated software.

Those who doesn’t pay will pay else embrace the sucky yucky open source movement and write ur own code, give it away for free (as in dollars and cents or ringgit dan sen).

You all can either go ori before or after you got busted. Either way, pay up. The choice is yours.

BTW, dun buy dual core machines. The Ori OEM OS can’t use both core.

lets face it, original software is still very expensive for the developing world. imagine paying RM20,000 for an AutoCAD program, RM10,000 for a photoshop CD and many more. it is ridiculous and very expensive, you could buy a car or a house with that kind of money. now imagine you got 2-4 PCs.
