Previously, Google released AdSense Video Ads but a lot questions were unanswered. Google AdSense blog published an AdSense Video Ads FAQ.

From the AdSense Video Ads FAQ, we learn that:

  • Video ads do not automatic playback.
  • Video ads are either site targeted or contextually targeted.
  • For contextual video ads, you get paid when visitors click on the display URL at the bottom of the ad, or click on the video itself while it plays.
  • Video ads do not earn you more money.
  • Video ads can be up to 2 minutes long.
  • You can watch the video ads appearing on your site.

My two cents

I do not think AdSense video ads are good. The CTR for AdSense Video Ads will be low because TWO clicks are required to get paid, same as AdSense Link Units. But, we can’t filter video ads to show only text and image ads.
