Google AdSense and Western Union

A Malaysian AdSense publisher has been invited by google to try out new payment option for Malaysian publishers — withdrawing AdSense revenue via Western Union. It is a good news if the new service is available to all Malaysian publishers in the future.

How much time needed for a Malaysian publisher to receive and cash their AdSense cheques?

Currently, it takes about two weeks to receive an AdSense cheque via standard delivery from Google. And, around 30 days for bank to clear the AdSense cheque.

Western Union is much faster

If use Western Union, it takes only two days to receive your AdSense payment in Malaysian ringgit. Isn’t it great?

Western Union Agents in Malaysia

According to Western Union website, there are three agents in Malaysia:

  • POS Malaysia Berhad
  • Bumiputra Commerce Bank
  • RHB Bank Berhad

My two cents

Time saving is great, but my main concern is the processing fee for using Western Union. I would rather wait for one and a half month if the charge is expensive. Anyway, the Malaysian publisher said it is free during the trial period.

  • Hi lcf,
Western Union charges for sender, not for receiver?
    Am i wrong ?
I had received the western union payment from US before.
BCB no charges me any fee for the payment ....
  • Good news indeed, but how much fee is the question now.

As for me i've always chosen to receive my check via FedEx so it arrives in 2 days plus 30 days clearing period.

Google's charges $25 for FedEx service so if Western union is simialar or lower i wouldn't mind :D
  • Jee
If the fees are low (or free), definitely a great news.
  • I've received the invitation too. However I don't think you should publish this info since in their email, the Google AdSense team specifically mention that we do not share this information with other publishers as this is a limited test.
  • Anyone know how much does it charge per withdrawal?
  • i hope it's can make easier for malaysian publisher..
  • I have received Western Union cash a few times. This is the fastest method of international payment. The moment you get your 10 digit code, the money is already in your name. But it charges the sender quite a substantial percentage of the amount sent.

I don't think Google will deduct the Western Union fee from your adsense payment. If Western Unin charge "a substantial percentage of the amount sent". Then, I rather to wait for the snail mail and slow bank clearing process...
  • Let's hope that they will absorb the fees and charges by Western Union. Otherwise, the snail mail method would be a better option.
  • really? will it be to china too? i care more about when google checkout will be open to China.
  • As far as I'm concerned, Western Union charges on sender, and quite a substantial amount even just sending from Malaysia to Indonesia (can't remember the exact amount now).

In this case, if Google is bearing the charges as sender, then it's a good news to Malaysian publishers hehe.
  • If I remember correctly, BCB charged me USD25 for sending USD400~500 to China. Btw, I choose bank wire rather than Western Union. I would rather wait for Google to explore its Checkout. I just simply don't trust Western Union.
  • Yes, I think Google specifically said don't share this info yet because they are still trying to patch things up.
  • LcF
I am not invited in the trial run, I got the info from a reader.
  • i dont think Google will absorb the service for a payment method so fragile such as this one. They are basically giving an extra option of payment and definately would deduct it from your payment. Yea its better to wait than to lose some ammount from ur payment.
  • In Singapore, it is much more better, take a few days to receive the cheque. I think they have office in Singapore. Then only take 1 day to clear the cheque without any additional fee. So, if possible, try to open an bank account in Singapore just to receive Adsense cheque.
  • Izzatz13
Yeah I agree with paikia suggestion. It's the best for now since they has open the new headquarters in Singapore. But I'm not sure if soon there will be a problem to open new bank account in Singapore. :P
  • From what you posted above, [the publisher] says its free if you withdraw from Adsense via Western Union..And hopefully Google absorbs the senders charges in the future.

..Its quite a fast service....Sometimes waiting is not a good thing when you have a lot of money in your Adsense...
  • WU only charged the sender , yey we can cash out the money more faster lor :)
  • Just like deducting the charges for sending you the checks, I am very sure they(Google) will deduct the sender charge. Commercialism mah!
  • LcF
As far as I know, it is still a free service. No additional fee/charge.
  • Goku
Hmm, i'm a bit confused now. Do WU charge anything? if they do, how much?
  • LcF
@Goku: AdSense via WU is FREE, thanks to Google.
But, WU is not a free service if you want to send your own money :)
  • Yeah.. if only local ad company like Nuffnang and Advertlets can follow suit. No more waiting for the cheque in the mail. No more going to the bank to bank in the cheque and wait for it to clear.
  • This is a great news indeed. Hope this will workout to new bloggers like myself.
  • does anyone get the payment on hold due to WU technical error issue? I got this issue, and based on support request that I made, they still looking on this issue.
  • LcF
@zai blogjer: received my 2nd WU payments, no problem.
  • Goku
    Hellp there,
can anybody help me on how can i get my money out from clickbank? it seems that i need to provide their US tax id, which i register as my address.
