@cg: As you said, unlike CRT, LCD monitor does not refresh. The backlight is the light source for LCD monitor. For LCD monitor, "response time" is the one we should care more.

"When dealing with LCDs, refresh rate is not much of a concern since they use a different technology to draw the image. Refresh rates as low as 40Hz or 60Hz are perfectly acceptable with LCD monitors." -- Digital Trends

For example, the display of my 60Hz refresh rate LCD monitor does not flick(and it shouldn't) like a 60Hz CRT monitor.Oh no, we are not buying a desk lamp. That's different story.

LcF…. can u pls explain why refresh rate is no longer important here for LCD? If so, why previous generation LCD panel still has 70++ Hz refresh rate. Like what Samsung is producing. I don’t agree refresh rate is not important. for LCD. I know at the back of the LCD panel, there is a small florescent tube for backlighthing. The picture will be more stable if the back lighting tube refresh faster. I remember panasonic use to sell expansive desk lamp which has very high refresh rate by using invertor. Kindly discuss.

@cg: Yes, I decided to give up E207WFP.

If you know how LCD monitor works, you will know that the “refresh rate” is not as important as in CRT monitor. For LCD monitor, we check the “response time”. Refresh and Response is different…

oh yes… it is not the Ultrasharp series. My fren didn’t like the low end dell LCD. Picture sucks. I am still dreaming full HD res at RM 1K. Maybe have to wait for another year.

One question… hope other’s can help… why the new LCD nowadays has low 60Hz refresh rates? They like to use the response time. Don’t both value has dependencies ?

yea. dell changes price overnight. be careful. that 20 incher is cheap. I bought my 19 inch for RM900 a few months back
