Google for Celcom WAP
Filed in: Google, Malaysia — October 3rd, 2006

Celcom, a Malaysia telco, signed a memorandum of understanding with Google to make the search engine services available via WAP to Celcom customers. Celcom has activated the GRPS setting for 4.2 million subscribers. Gmail and Google search web for Celcom will be roll out within five months. Google Earth and Google Talk have been planned as well.
Google for Celcom users [Thanks, Peter Tian]
My two cents
As far as I know, none of my family or friends use WAP. I have a GPRS phone for years but I do not use WAP. It is so slow and expensive. WAP is “Worthless Application Protocol” or “Wait And Pay” [wikipedia]
It looks like Celcom is trying to dig more money from existing subscribers…
