Previously, I introduced you the Nightly Tester Tools to make old Firefox extensions compatible with Firefox 2. However, I found a more powerful extension named MR Tech’s Local Install extension.

The primary function of MR Tech’s Local Install extension is to provide the tools needed to install and manage extensions and themes locally. It has the function to make old extensions compatible with new Firefox.

3 steps to make old extensions compatible

  1. Open Firefox Add-ons window
  2. Right click any incompatible extension and select “Make Compatible”.
  3. Restart Firefox and test the extension. Done!

My two cents

Thanks to MR Tech’s Local Install, I can now using Firefox 2 RC 3 with my favorite extensions. :D

  • CF, can Google Browser sync be made compatible too? I use several laptops so it's very useful. Just thought of asking since you might know... thanks!

@Ady: no idea, I do not use Google browser sync. I think it should work because the extension is depends on Google, not Firefox's functions.
  • Yep, it's working fine. So does all of my other extensions ;-)
