Chinese New Year 2007

Chinese New YearI know Chinese New Year is coming when I see the small table in my house is full of tidbits on it. From cookies to nuts, every of them is the source of more weight. It’s Chinese New Year, it’s the time to ruin my keep-fit plan!

Besides food and tidbits, Chinese New Year is about gathering of family and friends. My dad just came back yesterday after few months away from home. My sister is coming back today. There are only a few days in a year when all of our family members are home, Chinese New Year is one of the time.

My sister’s boyfriend will visit us and stay for a few days. My dad will meet him for the first time by then. Let’s see what is my dad’s comment about her boyfriend. ;)

My friends haven’t confirmed about the yearly secondary school friends’ gathering yet. Probably, early of next week. Before that, read about my last year’s Chinese New Year entry.

    The router is functioning well except that the router has some compatibility problems with some ADSL modems. Get yourself a Prolink modem, prefably the 9000/C Hurricane. That should solve the problem.

    My sister bought me a Prolink WGR1004 Wireless Router for my birthday (I was born on CNY day). She gave it to me on CNY eve. I unplugged all the cables that scattered around my house. I connected the wireless router to my Aztech 600EU modem. The wireless was working fine. I got excellent signal on everyone's laptop. But the router and the modem were not communicating. I couldn't go online.

    I wanted to fix the wireless in my house before CNY. So I consulted one of my friends who works in a networking company. I brought my modem, my router and my laptop there. Too bad my friend was very busy during CNY. He couldn't find a time to fix my router. I left everything in his house.

    I have to use another modem (a spare USB ADSL modem) to go online. I have to use another laptop which is not mine. I cannot check my emails for 2 days. I cannot do my routine stuff online. Hard to bear.

    Tomorrow I am getting back everything, regardless if the router is fixed or not. Maybe I have to re-wire back my house because I suspect the router is malfunctioning.
