geek shirt (ThinkGeek)I was placing an order on ThinkGeek. The items in my shopping cart were the geek. and BODY tag t-shirts. But the order failed, because ThinkGeek does not ship to Malaysia. Oh, that’s too bad! :(

According to ThinkGeek shipping info, they have chosen not to ship to some countries (Malaysia, in this case) for a variety of reasons, such as their carriers(DHL and UPS) do not deliver here, they have products that cannot be easily shipped to these countries or they have had a high rate of fraudulent orders coming from these countries.

We know DHL and UPS have no problem delivering to Malaysia. So, what do you think is the reason that ThinkGeek rejects Malaysian orders?

  • High fraud rate. Can't help it. :(
I believe there are other places that offer delivery to Malaysia. :D
  • Agreed ! If not mistaken, Malaysia is still listed as one of the fraud and scam country...
  • Actually DHL does deliver things to malaysia. It's just that it is Dua Hari Lewat (DHL).... heheh...
  • I am planning to order the 8 bit tie from them. Now, it seems that I cant.
  • I also think it's the problem of high fraud rate but they bluff you that DHL and UPS do not deliver :D

I contacted them last year, and they only mentioned that they don't accept Malaysian credit cards due to high number of fraud cases. Actually it's nonsense.

I think if we pay by cheque or Paypal there's no risk of fraud, so they can ship here. They simply don't want to ship here :-(
  • im not sure if there is any service like a concierge delivery to malaysia, if there is, you could use that.
  • high fraud rate maybe...what u can do is open a US address. not expensive ma...u can just google how to open US address. when u order give them the US address. then the people there will send ur material to malaysia..with delivey charges also la..hope this will help..

freight too expensive. takes around USD45 to ship documents from US to M'sia. so for packages might run up to USD100 plus. if you really want those 2 shirts, drop me an email, i might be able to help.
  • I am beginning to understand why (some) online stores refuse to accept Malaysia orders - now that I am starting a new online store, I get fictatious orders & fictatious customers. I have to spend extra time filtering them out, sending emails and even tried to call the phone numbers provided by them.

To make things easier (for the larger online stores), they simply refuse to accept Malaysian orders - penalizing everyone, including genuine orders. Its a pity that you can't order anything from ThinkGeek - they have some very nice stuff! :)

Is it just like what they said under "International Shipping - Why isn't my country in your list?", these countries had a high rate of fraudulent orders??

I say we make our own geeky t-shirt store. I'd be interested to join in the boat if anybody interested.
