Apple MacBook Upgrade

Apple announced the updates on MacBook. All MacBook models are now using Intel Core 2 Duo processor from 2.0GHz to 2.16GHz. The system memory also upgraded to 1GB by default. Also, larger hard drives in every model. All MacBooks are now equipped with built-in 802.11n wireless networking. Best of all, the price remain the same!

My two cents

I bought my Apple iBook 1 year+ ago. It works great and still looks cool in pearl white color. But it is 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4, not Intel CPU. I am tempting to get a MacBook or a Mac Mini (if Apple release Core 2 Duo version). Hmm… Have I got too many computers? :P

  • So Liew, do you use more Windows or OS-X? Think I'm going to get one of those MacBook... any major cons to buying it vs. MacBook Pro??

I wonder how to save the most for Apple's in Malaysia... any quick tips? (too lazy to scout shop) ;-)

@Nasir: currently, I am on Mac. I haven't start using my Vista Box. My younger brother use it for whole day gaming... I shall wait until his semester break over at the end of the month.

MacBook vs. MacBook Pro? MacBook is good for most users. MacBook Pro has bigger screen, better graphics processor(ATI Mobility Radeon X1600), and much more expensive.

Apple hardwares are standard price in Malaysia. You can get good deals (some free gifts) during PC Fair.
  • to me, it doesn't really matter which system i am using. pro and cons to both of them. but one particular thing that really irritates me is when it comes to accessing files. therefore, if i have more than one box sitting around the house, it will be great if i have a box that serves as the server then everything should be fine...
  • lets switch to MAC :)
  • this is a better deal than before.
i wish to own a macbook, but i am still a student, cant make money to buy myself one.
i feel mac is more user friendly than windows but others said it is not.
  • I am using iMac and I love every bits of it

However, in my opinion, this is not a free upgrade.
If you notice the trend of Apple product, the price for a particular product of the same specs will stay for few months, NEVER change!

All of us know that hardware prices drop almost every other weeks.
