Porn dot com Sold for 9 Million

Guys love porn. Do you know how much is the PORN.COM domain name? According DomainTools Blog, MXN Limited acquires porn.com for $9 Millions, the 2nd largest adult domain trasaction behind SEX.COM. That’s a lot of money for porn! :eek:

While MXN Limited is considering for long-term project plans for porn.com, it is parked with a domain name monetization company. The domain is getting millions of monthly unique visitors (read: money).

Make money from domain names?

For your information, domain name registration fee is same for all domain names on same level. So, PORN.COM or SEX.COM domain name registration and renewal fees are same as YOURNAME.COM, which is less than $10.

Now you see the profit margin of selling great domain names. :)

Thinking to sell domain name for profits? Just a note, it takes a lot of time and effort. You have to dig down the domain name database for good domains that are unregistered or expired.

Or, you can try your luck and buy domain names at domain marketplace like sedo.com and namepros.com. Buy at low, Sell at high.

    This is not a good thing. In liberal society it is acceptable. But everyone must know the consequences of p0rn addiction. It should not be encourage. There are alot more things to do than that one physiology.

  • they have to shake the adult industry once in a while nowadays... with more things to do today on the Net like making money off it and have a good family life instead of wasting money for sex over the Net, i think people in the adult industry just had to pull this stunt.

    Just take a look at what happened to sex.com. Pity! I don't think it's worth much now, but just an ok investment, just like buying a house/property (slow but modest growth of value but you could lose money too down the road!), except that if you have million-dollar property, you can use it yourself or rent it for good.

    I personally have had some good fortunes off domain name trading... the previous owner is laughing all the way to the bank!

    anyway, thanks for the alert. I need to start spring cleaning my domain portfolio.

    Why is pornography bad? I am still yet to get a logical intellectual answer to address that. Addiction to anything even the internet is bad. But that doesn't mean the internet is bad. There is nothing wrong with pornography.

    Addiction to work may not be a totally bad thing.... sometimes it is called married to the job, my office my second home, some even call that occupational hazard... LOL... but keep doing something that of little meaningful purpose is not to be encouraged. Try compare that to drug, smoking, gaming, alcohol, sex... Bear let u guys think of it and it is complicated too and very intellectually demainding.

    Bear not saying p0rn is totally bad. Sometimes childless couple go to see doctor.... dr do prescribe advice and abit of p0rn to get the fire started.. especially on conservative individuals/couple. Sperm donation, they have ways too... hehehe... But too much of it... and how much is too much... and it's impact on the surrounding people... is situational.

    Bear leave that to self regulation. Those/any addiction will define the success and failure of the individual. That point is not easy to grasp, cos success is relative. But those are none of Bear's concern.
  • Yeah the domain marketplace is one to look for...I wrote about this few months back.If you can think of indigenous names for a domain then you should try out domain selling.
