Gmail Increase Maximum Attachment Size

Gmail: Google Webmail ServiceWhile Gmail web mail space is increasing continuously (currently, 2.8GB), Google decided to increase the maximum email attachment size as well.

The new maximum email attachment size allowed is 20MB (previously, 10MB). The 20Mb is the sum of email’s text message and the encoded attachment.

Although Gmail can send and receive email size at 20MB, but not many webmail services support the attachment size. The email you send will be bounced back if the receiver’s email service has smaller attachment limit.

If that’s the case, Google ask you to invite them to Gmail. What a good tactic to increase Gmail users!

My two cents

Gmail is the only webmail service I am using, because of its simple interface (or a better Gmail?) and integrated with other Google services. With the increase attachment size, Gmail is now a better and free online storage (Gspace) ;)

Currently, the other two popular webmail services, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail, only support mail attachment size up to 10MB. Since they increased the webmail size after Gmail, I believe they will increase the maximum email attachment size soon as well. Let’s see. :)

I personally use G-Mail through POP in K-Mail most of the time. I prefer to use GMail still because when I am not with my laptop I can still easily use it from another computer and can go on-line to easily search through e-mails.
  • G-mail is the best for me and this new future bring more people to gmail :)
  • i am using yahoo, i have gmail, but less use it, cos not so familiar. 1 think i like it is fast loading
  • Yahoo Mail now offers unlimited storage ;)
  • Been a happy Gmail (+Gspace) user for nearly three years now. Never cared for MSN/Hotmail or Yahoo Mail since...

Free everything and more coming up: forwarding, multiple aliases, custom domain (thru forwarding/alias), monstrous space (I've used more than 50% though), simple n fast interface, mobile support, pop access, pop retrieval, integrations with all the other best Google Apps (calendar, bookmark, task list, document, spreadsheet, Talk/Chat, Adsense, Analytics, Adwords, Blogger, Orkut, maps, base, and the list goes on)... what else could you ask for? Hmm, don't worry, Google will make that wish come true soon. (Google has thousands of programmers who are working hard to keep coming up with the next big things off their 20% time).

Just no IMAP support at this time, and I'm not too confident we'll ever get it.

Google is the King of Today's Internet. Until it starts to break its founders' do-no-evil policy... Let's hope that we won't have to see that day. (or it'll be Google is Evil).

I don't know but I've lost some attachments before and when I try to send out some attachments it takes forever. Still I love gmail.

I've personally changed my subscriptions from my old hotmail address to send all my email to gmail.
