Microsoft Windows VistaMicrosoft will deliver the Beta 1 of Vista SP1, the first service pack for Windows Vista, in mid-July 2007.

The news source claimed that Microsoft will release Beta 1 version of Vista SP1 at around July 16, 2007. The final version of Vista SP1 will be released in November 2007. Note that Windows Server 2008 is also scheduled to release in November 2007.

What’s new in Vista SP1?

Vista SP1 will include alterations to Windows Vista desktop search and the following features:

  • Performance tweaks for faster files copying and windows shut down
  • Improve transfer performance and decrease CPU utilization

My two cents

As far as I know, many new adopters of Windows Vista are not satisfied by the Vista performance. Hopefully the Vista SP1 will “greatly” improve Windows Vista performance. Let’s see…

Vista has obvious bugs if the wrong version of realplayer 10 or beta version is installed. It could screw up IE7 and the original mediaplayer 11 on some websites and the usual fixes like reinstalling IE7 or Mediaplayer 11 for vista [which doesn't exist] forces some to use a restore disk or a copy of Vista itself to repair the problem for a non tech [non tweaking programming]. It is likely fixable by making default player and browser fixes [which failed by the way]. If microsoft was liable for time and effort fixing a operating system supposedly better than XP, then who thee thou lieth 3 times and its gone. It's losing it's baseball game to its competitors if it keeps this up in simple jargon.

well i think it will help, and seeing as how ive had vista since Day 1, it will be much needed. the only reason ive got it is my dad builds computers and built this one for testing to see if he should reccomend it to customers or not.
Now i would like to know where i could get this beta as soon as its out. Also if anyone has a good free firewall and anti spyware to replace the windows ones.
  • As usual, there is SP 1 and then SP2, SP3...finally there is new Windows OS.. Typical Microsoft product life cycle! However I like the look of Vista..
