Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007

Did you attend the Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007 (MIFC)? At August 25, 2007, I went with my younger brother, younger sister and her two friends. It was Team Italy’s show. A great performance and the it was first time watching fireworks close-up (the fireworks dust even dropped to our body).
I took my Canon Powershot 700 camera and tripod and hopping to take great shots of fireworks for the first time. It wasn’t easy for a beginner though.
The “fireworks” mode of the camera only has short 2 seconds shutter, too short time to shoot a complete firework (5-10 seconds). I used the “Tv” (Shutter Speed Priority) mode but had over-exposed pictures. Yes, I should use “Manual” mode but I forgot!
Anyway, here are a few of the firework pictures (slideshow) that I think are “acceptable”.

My two cents
Although we spent hours in traffic jam, but we enjoyed the fireworks very much. It was worth the waiting time! It was my first time shooting fireworks and I didn’t do well. Hopefully I will have better shots next time.
After watching fireworks, I started thinking to buy a camcorder, so that I can have full record of the event when I am busy shooting pictures. It wasn’t a crazy idea. At the next day of the show, my sister’s friend even bought a brand new digital camera for the finale show at 2nd September 2007. I guess the camera shops had higher sales last month?
