Long Break After Chinese New Year 2008

Hello, guys! It has been a very looong time since my last blog post “Gifts of Hope“. Erm.. that’s exactly 3 weeks! Wow~ A full-time blogger did not update his blog for 21 days! What happened?!

Don’t worry, I am fine. I still online everyday, just that I did not update the blog. Many friends ask me if I am busy or doing new projects? The answer is “No”. I am very free and no new projects coming on (although many projects in my ToDo list).

I just didn’t feel like blogging, even though I have many things to share with you all. Well, let’s treat as a long break of mine. And, now is the new start! :)

Chinese New Year 2008

As usual, we had hot pot as new year eve dinner. The food was delicious with Taiwan’s Satay Sauce(沙茶酱). We also ate a lot of abalone… and drank a bottle of red wine…

It was “ang pao” (red packet) time at the end of the meal. According to our family tradition, every child has to tell his/her plan for the following year. One-by-one, from the youngest to the eldest (I am second). Then, the parents will give their speeches.

Here I share the summary of my parents speech with you all:

Mom: Believe on what you believe. Do not give up easily. Be consistent and patient. Don’t be afraid of failures. As long as you keep going on, you will succeed one day (my dad is best example). Time management is important, especially if you are self-employed. Set a time table and follow it.

Dad: Socialize more. It is not avoidable. Even you are a blank paper, you have to absorb the colors and mix with the people. They can help you in your career. You can’t do things alone.

Do you agree with my parents?

Usually, my dad speaks more but not this year. I think he is little drunk after drinking the red wine. :P On the other hand, mom speaks more than usual this year. Also, I guess it is red wine’s effect again. ;)

Friends gathering

Chinese New Year is the great time for friends gathering. Every year, we have secondary school friends gathering at a friend’s house. It has been 10 years after our secondary school graduation. We have a new member this year — my friend’s baby! He is only 1+ month old, so cute!

While we have new members, the number of friends attending the gathering is lesser… I think we will have more and more new young members but less old members in the coming years..

Suddenly, I realized that I am “Uncle”! :(

Friend’s Wedding

February 17, 2008 was my friend’s wedding. The bride is my friend since primary school to secondary school. The groom is also my friend, he was my primary school classmate. They met in Singapore a couple years ago and became a couple in a short time.

Book: “Wedding Planning For Dummies, Second Edition”

The groom’s family is very well known in our town. I would say “rich and famous”. The wedding had 70 tables and attended by many big shot businessmen and politicians.

All the best for their future together!

Big lips fish

Beside the celebration, we did a fish cleanup for our house’s koi fish pool. Our 3 brothers worked together to catch the unwanted fish in the pool and dump them to the river.

Big Lips Fish

They were small fish bought to feed the Dragon Fish (in another fish tank) but then dumped into the pool. The fish then shared the koei’s food as my mother fed them. They were only few centimeter long but grew up to more than 1 foot long!

They were 7 or 8 of them. Each fish is around 3 to 5KG. The largest fish is the one in the picture. It has a weird and thick lips. Quite scary.. My younger brother said “maybe it was sensitive to Koi’s fish food”.

Chinese New Year celebration, friends gathering, wedding, and fish catching.. It was a very interesting holiday. How about yours?
