The 1st Malaysian blog-ping aggregator, Project Petaling Street (PPS) has been sold, 3 months before its 6th year of service (12 June 2009).

PPS sale letter

The new owner, who prefers to stay anonymous, contacted me last week and sent me the copy of sales letter. The buyer prefer to keep the sales price in private but I can tell you that it is a very good buy. I would buy PPS at that price too, without blinking my eyes!

PPS new design

According to the new owner, some big chances will be applied on PPS. First of all, a new web design. The official PPS tweet published a screenshot of upcoming new PPS design.

The new design is cleaner with white background. It has a “featured pings” section, which I wonder how they are picked. Also, there are many ad blocks fill in blank spaces.

Not sure how many people will click the ads on PPS. I think PPS can earn more by selling the ad space to local blog ad networks.

The old PPS is gone and let’s hope the new PPS will continue its spirit and be a better one.

Shall you have any comments about new PPS, you can drop it here and the new PPS owner might read it :)

  • Considering that the first act was to ban bloggers from pinging PPS. I doubt it's in the spirit of it anymore.

Straight from the horse's mouth on my blog. If that's the way things go, would any blogger stand a chance if they speak out something the new owner doesn't agree with?
  • PPS? i almost forgot about the existence of PPS, it was fun back then but somehow people abused it. hopefully we have a team of dedicated bloggers/web designer behind the new PPS.

what is the reason for selling PPS in ther first place?
  • Me too.. it was my fav web to check out new things coming up on the web but later used google reader to keep track things. But PPS has substantial potential for new owner as it has big influence over malaysian blogger.

Never thought malaysia has such agreement for selling website ownership
  • Hope new PPS bring more readers to my blog ;)

    --blog for dream--
  • Funny that the buyer would want to remain anonymous, when he's blabbed about it on his own blog.

And as Edrei has indicated his first action isn't at all promising.
  • 5xmom has revealed the identity of the new owner on her blog, plus the owner himself had blogged about the takeover on his own blog

Aiya.. there's no more anonymous owner of PPS now. REVEALED! Huh. Hope no bloggers will be banned from pinging to PPS after this. :(
  • joe
    Bye bye PPS...
  • yahlor.. the owner is actually Mohd Elfie Nieshaem Juferi who also own VCTECHNETWORK.COM
why so secret ah liewcf ? :P
  • LcF
well, because he asked me not to reveal his name mah~
  • @ aht Hope new PPS bring more readers to my blog - Well, I don't think this will be the only thing that you should worry about for traffic..
  • There is so fear imposed to the bloggers by the Msian govt that it has frightened away the internet community.
Msia is no longer and will never be an open source internet community.

Fear of getting sue, fear of getting fine and all those silly laws to make blogging harder in msia.

great news! can't wait to see the new site.
  • i wonder what's the reason for the owner to sell it. fast cash maybe?

anyway, it's good to have PPS introduced to new bloggers sometime ago, that sort of give a little spirit for them to blog more and update with each other. but now, there are even more ping site available which i've got confused with.

i believe PPS still running as per normal before the new transfer, but after, I dont know how menj can maintain the traffic since i notice the trend of ping site is getting slower.

    anyway, gud luck to menj

  • Just wonder how many traffic on PPS
  • wow..this is really interesting!
i wonder how much "thousand" the site cost
  • i just found out that PPS was being sold to the new owner while Googling for it. But, i love the new face of PPS!
