What is Earth Hour?

Thanks to the supporting partners of Earth Hour in Malaysia, it has successfully created a buzz in Malaysia. But, do you know what is “Earth Hour”?

I did not.

I watched the “celebrities” (don’t know who they are…) commercial on Astro but didn’t get the message they tried to send. (blame it on my bad English understanding)

By visiting the office website of Earth Hour, I understand that Earth Hour is a global election. Your light switch is your vote. Turn off your lights at Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm means you have placed your vote to Earth.

The slogan of Malaysia’s Earth Hour website (hate the yelling animation!) is quite misleading:

“Come together to fight global warming. Turn off your lights for one hour.”

Does it mean that if we turn off our lights for that 1 hour and the global warming will be settlef?

No way.

After you have voted for the earth (switch off lights for 1 hour), there are something you can do to fight global warming. It is not as difficult as you might thought.

    Strange enough , every body all around the world regardless of race and religion are excited to save the world-by Supporting Earth Hour . During the "dark Hour of Gaza " it was not supported globally

  • If you guys are really serious about the Earth, plant tress, eat more vege than meats, cut down all processed food and drinks, do planned purchase and stuff like that.

    Switched off lights by an hour is just something very surface for show only.

    while i saw some of my neighbor, every days waste electric, out of home, fan and light also open, even morning. and only light off while earth hour... I really not understand why people like to be follower. :(

  • During earth hour, i was on Malaysia. Still saw many houses turn ON the light! Hmm...maybe becoz Earth Hour campaign does not recognized or paid attention to by many Malaysians.
