Asia IT Professionals, Are You Underpaid?

ZDNet Asia done an online survey in Asia between October 2008 and May 2009, to gain insights into salary trends and IT workforce across Asia.

In this year’s salary benchmarks, IT professionals in Hong Kong again led the pack, commanding the highest average annual salary of US$66,140. Their peers in Singapore and Thailand ranked in second and third, drawing annual paychecks of US$45,341 and US$20,154, respectively.

Malaysia is at the 4th place. Both Malaysia’s neighbors (Thailand and Singapore) are paying more than Malaysia to their IT professionals. Singapore IT people are getting paid 2.5 times more than Malaysians!

While Hong Kong IT professionals received highest salary in Asia, their living expenses are also the highest.

The average annual salary for IT Management (CEO, CIO, CTO, VP, Director) in Malaysia is RM 102,375.80.
