Apple iPad to be Available on April 3, 2010

Apple iPad will be released in US on April 3. People can start pre-order the iPad from the Apple Online Store on March 12, 2010.

How much is Apple iPad? Starting from USD$499 (16GB), 32GB is $599 and 64GB is $699. You adds USD$130 to get the WiFi + 3G iPad.

Also, Apple airs the first ever Apple iPad Commercial during the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Here is the iPad commercial video:

From the video, it seems like the Apple iPad size is too big to be used while you are standing or walking. Everyone in the video was required to put up their legs to hold the iPad.

That’s not a comfortable position, at least for me.

It was an unlucky day for David Kiely, an employee of Macquarie Bank, who got caught browsing nude photos of Miranda Kerr GQ Magazine shoots while his colleague Martin Lakos was live on the air.

And, here is the Miranda Kerr’s GQ shoot (censored ) in the screenshot above:

Here is the captured video:

It looks like David Kiely was reading some emails (1:00) and the photos are email attachments. His another colleague was noticed first (1:25) and he turned his head back (1:33) at the end of the live TV.

Moral of the story: Always watch your back when you are naughty.

Free Virus Scan from Kaspersky Lab at PC Fair 2009

Kaspersky Lab is offering free malware scan at the Kaspersky “Kung Fu” Virus Lab at PC Fair 2009 (II) to set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records.

The record attempt will take place over three days between 11.00am and 8.00pm, from 31 July to 2 August in Room 306 on the 3rd floor of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

You are invited to bring as many devices as you wish for free malware scanning. The event is also a competition opens to participants who help to scan as many devices as possible.

When Jackie Chan meets Kaspersky

Talking about Kaspersky “Kung Fu” Virus Lab, Jackie Chan did a commercial ad with the company’s owner, Eugene Kaspersky.

The story is similar to Jackie’s previous movie “The Tuxedo” where Jackie wears a Kaspersky helmet and karate kicks viruses on a Segway in the cyberworld.

Quite amusing, I must admit.

Apple iPhone 3G is Twice as Fast? Think Twice.

We watched the Apple 3G iPhone commercial. It is so cool! It is so fast! But, is iPhone 3G “really” that fast? rrrrrrrroooooooo did a test of iPhone 3G speed in real life and compare with the Apple iPhone 3G ads video.

Apparently, iPhone 3G in test is much slower than the advertised speed. Well, we know it is “commercial” but the speed differs too much in real life (although it is considered fast on mobile phone). Do you feel cheated?

The video made me re-think to keep Apple iPhone 3G in my wish list or not, well, for 3 seconds. I’ll still get an iPhone 3G if it is available and affordable for me. It is just so cool!

How small can a car be? Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the world’s smallest production car — Peel P50 (1964). He drove it to work, even driving in the office!

Peel P50 looks like a 3 wheels bike or kid’s toy to me. It is so small that I doubt I can fit myself into it… However, it can save your car parking fee. Would you buy a car like this?

Today is my friend’s birthday. I promised to give her a birthday present. She loves Hello Kitty very much, so I bought a special edition of Hello Kitty MP3 player from eBay for her. Here is the brief review of the Hello Kitty MP3 Player.

I bought the Hello Kitty MP3 player at $60 USD (~RM210) on eBay. The whole MP3 player is a Hello Kitty, the control buttons are her hands and feet. No display, only a LED light to show the status. It has a built-in mic for voice recording. Earphone and USB cable share a jack below the left ear.

Just like other MP3 player, the Hello Kitty MP3 player is plug & play. Simply connect it to computer with the USB cable, drag and drop audio files and you are done. It supports common music file format such as WAV, MP3, WMA.

Here is the video demo to show you how to control the MP3 player. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy clicking the hands and feet of Hello Kitty!

The Hello Kitty MP3 player controls are kept to the minimum. It does not support fast forward/backward and no shuffle mode. Well, I think Hello Kitty fans won’t mind right?

Google released the final video of Gmail Behind the Scenes Video project. The Gmail envelope went through sky to undersea, passing by human, robots, animals… a great video I watched over and over again!

All of the Gmail video submissions are listed on YouTube. Although none of the Malaysians’ clip is included in the final video but Google featured 4 clips by Malaysians. Note that no video clip from Malaysia’s neighbor has been featured. Malaysia Boleh!

Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007

Did you attend the Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007 (MIFC)? At August 25, 2007, I went with my younger brother, younger sister and her two friends. It was Team Italy’s show. A great performance and the it was first time watching fireworks close-up (the fireworks dust even dropped to our body).

I took my Canon Powershot 700 camera and tripod and hopping to take great shots of fireworks for the first time. It wasn’t easy for a beginner though.

The “fireworks” mode of the camera only has short 2 seconds shutter, too short time to shoot a complete firework (5-10 seconds). I used the “Tv” (Shutter Speed Priority) mode but had over-exposed pictures. Yes, I should use “Manual” mode but I forgot!

Anyway, here are a few of the firework pictures (slideshow) that I think are “acceptable”.

My two cents

Although we spent hours in traffic jam, but we enjoyed the fireworks very much. It was worth the waiting time! It was my first time shooting fireworks and I didn’t do well. Hopefully I will have better shots next time.

After watching fireworks, I started thinking to buy a camcorder, so that I can have full record of the event when I am busy shooting pictures. It wasn’t a crazy idea. At the next day of the show, my sister’s friend even bought a brand new digital camera for the finale show at 2nd September 2007. I guess the camera shops had higher sales last month?
