Bill Gates to Retire in Year 2008?

In the Microsoft Corp. press release, “Microsoft Corp. today announced that effective July 2008 Bill Gates, chairman, will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The company announced a two-year transition process to ensure that there is a smooth and orderly transfer of Gates’ daily responsibilities, and said that after July 2008 Gates would continue to serve as the company’s chairman and an advisor on key development projects.”

My two cents

Gates is 50 year old now. He has made a great success with Microsoft. It is time for him to focus on something different. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a great charity organization.

    I read about the article abt Gates on papers weeks ago. The couple did alot for charity, they dont even mind walking hand-in-hand in muddy places in those 3rd world countries, the spirit is very touching indeed!

    Saw a couple of weeks back,Bill and Melinda Gates on Oprah’s show.
    The look genuinely concerned & are willing to help as many people as they can.

    At least there’s still some good humans out there :D

    he retire as the CEO only..but surely still sit on the board lor….so the power is still there…but he get someone to work for him rather them him working himself

    If all he or everybody needed was to be a billionaire, he could’ve retired in his 20s. He became a billionaire in 1984, at age 28, 9 years after starting Microsoft. Now if everything is money, how many people can do that?

    Seeing Gates in person 11 years ago at KL – it struck me – this person looks and speaks in a very ordinary way. Meaning: everything’s possible, even for the rest of us.

    There is a serious Typo mistake in the Title of this post. It should have been “Bill Gates to Retire in Year 2008?”, Please change the title.

    Just Stop Praising him

    If i where him I won’t mind throwing some change on third world countries. It the same thing with every billionaire.

    because he earn 500 times more than he donates !!
