No More Sony Clie PDA?!
Filed in: Gadgets, Technology — June 5th, 2004
The PDA market is shocked by Sony's decision to scale back its Clie line and exit the U.S. and European markets.
"Product development and sales continue for the Japanese market only. Sony is taking this time to examine the conventional PDA business and how it will transition into the future.", Sony spokewoman Kelly Gaffney
The (possible)reasons:
[ulist]
[*]losing market share to Microsoft Windows CE(Pocket PC)
[*]stale sales of PDA
[*]consumer more interest on smartphone
[*]Sony moves focus to its Sony Ericsson (smart)mobile phones
[/ulist]
As the largest partner of PalmSouce, Sony decision has greatly affected the Palm OS.

Thought:
Plain PDA does not satisfy our greedy requirement anymore, an all-in-one device combines phone, digital camera, PDA, wireless connection, games, etc at pocket size is what we are(I am) looking for. Smartphone is closer to it than a PDA.
Well, time to learn programming in Symbian OS? ![]()
