No more 2GB email space from Gawab as I mentioned yesterday. I just went to the website and found that the free webmail package had changed:-

Bad news:

• 50% webspace less, now only 1001MB (1MB more than other Gigabyte free mail…, which made it STILL the largest free webmail ) .
• Attachment size reduced to 10MB, instead of previous 50MB.

Good News:

• New free mail package with POP/SMTP support (but only 15MB). Good for those like to read mails from their email client and download emails to PC.

Thought:
Though Gawab cut 2GB to 1GB, but it provide another alternative. The POP/SMTP email package is attactive to many people. With POP access, we can download the emails to our PC and read them using our favourite email client (e.g.: ThunderBird, Outlook, etc)

Hmm… I am waiting for 1GB email with POP access.

Never heard about Gawab? Me, too. According to the website title, it has 1,832,820 users. Will it shows that it is stable enough to be your daily access personal email account?

Immediately, I registered a Gawab account.

So, what’s special about Gawab?

• It accept short username, which is not accepted by other free webmail providers. I registered 3-characters username, “L C F”!
• You can select themes of your webmail interface. Each theme has special topic, like kids, islamic, romance, outlook, yahoo…
• Choose your own language, example: arabic, indonesian, etc. But doesn’t have chinese language.
• The Gawab loading speed is surprisingly fast! No idle waiting time.
• Support HTML editor for Internet Explorer users, Mozilla/Firefox users get plain text editor.
• One thing special about the email editor is that it has online arabic editor support! Nice if you type in arabic but not using Arabic OS.
• Like Yahoo! mail, Gawab has calendar and can receive emails from other POP mail account, too.
• Message tracking - Gawab allow you to send email with tracking feature, to know your mail is read by receiver or not. The technology is including a 1px*1px tracking image along the email message.

Thought:
Will Gawab suddenly stop the free mail service? If the amount of users are truth, I think it is quite stable. Do we really need 2GB space? Currently I am using about 30% of Gmail 1GB space, I think I will need a BIG one like this - to store those BIG attachments (so that can forward to friends much much faster)

No more 2GB from Gawab, but added free POP3 email account.

Today (28 July) is J’s birthday, she is celebrating with her friends in Penang now. Though we broke up about half year already but still keep in touch. She may come to KL this weekend, if so, I will celebrate her belated birthday.

“Prepare & celebrate with me oh!”, she said in SMS. Frankly, I don’t know how to celebrate one’s birthday. In my past experience, it will only be a treat and a small present.

I am not a romantic guy, my girlfriend does not get any birthday surprise. I prefer you tell me what you expected and I get them for you. What a boring guy~ Ha!

I don’t celebrate my own birthday as well, at most only give myself a treat. Birthday will only remind me about the mothers, an image in operation room will appear in my brain…

Google has set the long-awaited price range for its initial public offering, putting itself in line to raise as much as $3.3 billion, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

The search giant set a price range of $108 to $135 a share, according to the filing. Based on those per-share numbers and the expected issuance of 24.6 million shares, the search giant hopes to raise between $2.7 billion and $3.3 billion. That would make it among the largest-ever IPOs.

Due to the license of GIF format, GD does not include GIF support in previous version. With expiration of GIF license, GD library now included support for GIF in version 2.0.28.

Support for GIF was restored in gd 2.0.28 on July 21st, 2004. Basic support for GIF animation is planned for an upcoming release. Note that gdlib-config –features can be used to list the image formats supported by gd. Versions of gdlib-config prior to recent updates do not support the –features option, which can be understood to mean GIF is not available.
