It’s not that big a deal really. It would have been appropriate in this case if you’d provided actual links to the articles you sent trackbacks on. Then it’s a case if an exchange.

I wouldn’t stress over it but it’s a good point of etiquette.

yea, i forgot to say that: the thing trackbacks should be for, is some kind of link exchange, you link to your resource, and you get linked back.

Most webloggers expect that if you send them a trackback, you do so when you have PROVIDED A LINK TO THEIR BLOG. Otherwise, it comes off as spam to most of us. Do this often and you’ll likely get your domain banned on most blogs, because all you’re doing is mooching traffic without sharing. I didn’t make this up–it’s how most bloggers feel.

For now I’ve put this blog–indeed, this entire domain name–in my “banned” list. I also fully expect this comment will probably be deleted. If I am mistaken please let me know.

i don’t use trackbacks a lot, but after i tracked a link from this story to the source, i got like 100 new visitors, all in 1 day. Seems to work fine, as long as you trackback highly visited sites.
oh and i didn’t trackback to get more visitor, i just though it would be nice for the autor to know about more stories made form his article.

i had been using trackback all along… even before i install google adsense. i use haloscan trackback as johnny 5 pointed out. i do not trackback a blog often though.

isit a spam? imo it’s considered spam because the purpose behind this is to increase site traffics instead of the real purpose of trackback. however, since it’s carefully selected, i guess it isn’t tood bad xD

Man, I don’t know what the hell you are talking about but I’m certainly putting this in my archived folders in my hard disk so that I can read it again when I have learnt the art of the dark forces that you have obviously mastered.
