Blog with Adsense Is Commecial?
Filed in: Malaysia, Weblog — August 5th, 2005
Does adsense means commercial? Does earn money from blogging means commercial? Why want to related to adsense and me(LiewCF) when talking about “commercial” blog? Do you know that blogging about “adsense” does NOT make you earning from adsense? Why do I share the adsense tips? Why do I spend my time to teach you to earn money online? Why are people earning big money online and they do not want to share the ways?
I am fed up already. Sorry.

Displaying adsense ads on your website, denotes that you are using the opportunity of your internet prescence to earn money, the word commercial Refers to business (commerce). The term is typically used to contrast business use from personal use.
Now we can say for certain that you website is a commercial website, because
1. It is not sponsored specifically by a company.
2. It does not promote a specific product.
3. The content is strictly general, that is comprising of both your activities in general and your passions.
I think, that you are listening to peoples rubbish too much. Once you believe in what you are doing, and the conscious within you is for a particular motive. In this case , your blog is for your own personal way of expression. I think you shouldnt flare up, nor even take into consideration whatever people think about your main motives.
One thing you must realise about human beings in general, is you can never please them, nor even make them understand why you do what you do. I think its about time you ignore them and carry on, doing what you know you are doing. That is their problem, they should keep blabbering on whatever they want to blabber on. Let them trouble their life with whatever they want to trouble their life with.
If thinking that your blog is what they want to worry about, leave them. Atleast its not you that would get hypertension over worrying about other peoples interest or motives of doing things.
I think you should be cool about the whole stuff. Take it easy pal. Ciaoz

kayode muyibi speaks my heart out…there are too many jealous people out there…just ignore them like i do and continue doing what you are doing.

Liew, my sincere advice to you, is that perhaps you should consider to hide your ‘financial achievements’ gained from blog. It’s a fact that you’re considered one of the most well-doing Malaysian blogger. And, it’s also a fact that some people get jealous because of this, their eyes are just redish of the earning figures you posted. Worse still, not everyone is capable to achieve that figure with AdSense, especially those blogging on non-tech relevant articles. Perhaps, being passive in this perspective could be a long term solution

thank you, guys. Feeling better now.
Tien Soon: if you noticed, I do not reveal my earning figure anymore. Ppl are guessing how much I earned.
I know some adsense guru who refuse to reveal their site and their tips, now I know the reasons. You see, it is not easy to be a good guy. *shrug*

Well calling LiewCF website ‘commercial’ is just a label.
Don’t take it too seriously.
Heck I’d like to be labelled commercial myself if it means I can earn half as much as Liew.
It’s good to share your achievements over the net- that’s what blogging is about, right? Perhaps Kah Soon is right but don’t totally hide what your achievements are. You don’t have to reveal how much you earn exactly but please do tell us if you have achieved your certain target .. etc.
Keep up the good work, Liew !!!
This is a great commercial website or otherwise

Sometimes it is not a bad thing to be commercial. If you are labelled as commercial, then it means that you have to be professional in that field!
Cheers….

Those blog information you provide are for free. They can choose not to click on any. Anyway they are not the one paying you for the advertisements.
Most people are jealous, I think is because you disclose your earning from your blog.
If your information you provide is worth some money then you should deserved the amount you get.
I learn from you Forum (MalaysianBlogger) and your Blog a lot. You deserved every penny of the adsense earned. You don’t go out to force (not even in words) your reader to buy thing, but the choice in on their hand. There is nothing commercial about it.

very wise advise from kayode, which i fully agree, and i’m sure the sentiments of most of us too.
notice that kayode did not mentioned people are jealous though. yes i would not like to say people are jealous. people are just human, and like kayode pointed out, you can’t please everybody. people just wanted to speak up, that’s all, so just ignore them.
i wouldn’t label your blog commercial at all, lcf. to me commercial means earning money through your own effort. you are now earning money through adsense (and others ads). if you are charging people for viewing your blog or for giving out advice, then it would be commercial, because it is your own effort. you are just a bright guy to take opportunity of some way to earn money while doing something you love (blog). it’s only natural.
cheer up, lcf. remember to many who are against you, there are more who are for you! the power of friendship!
i guess at this stage, i would like to take the opportunity to thank you for all the advides on adsense that you dished out to us. TERIMA KASIH!

so what if people labelled your blog as commercial website? Last time i checked, the petalingstreet.org TOS doent say that it would not accept commercial blog… plus, you and aiz danian kinda close…
so if you really thing your blog is earning you revenue, then come clean with it… wtf with all those people…
August 5th, 2005 at 3:42 pm
kahsoon… in case you haven’t noticed people really aren’t jealous of you. They are irritated of you. Please do not think so highly of yourself. Thank you.
LCF sorry to hijack this comment.

Yeah. Anyone looking at your blog can see that it’s screaming “I love ads - especially Adsense!!! “.
Nothing to hide. Ho shame. No explanation needed.
August 5th, 2005 at 3:53 pm
mmm… seems like my poor english get you guys misunderstanding. I don’t mind to be labeled as commercial blog. In fact, I enjoy to have a commercial blog if any company want to sponsor. I just hate that people drag me into water when discussing about a different case. That’s all.
August 5th, 2005 at 4:48 pm
Now I really don’t understand.
Different case meaning ?? .. is it don’t want to be labelled as a person just blog because greedy for Adsense Money ?? or something like that ??
August 5th, 2005 at 5:36 pm
I mean Aiz was asking about the fotozzoom blog’s ping. I dun understand why am I related into the case.
August 5th, 2005 at 7:45 pm
People like you mah… they mah immediately think of you lor… :p
August 6th, 2005 at 12:46 am
Don’t be discouraged, dude. You’re doing a good thing here.
August 6th, 2005 at 3:14 am
Just finished reading the long discussion in PPS.
I think they dragged you in because they were discussing about AdSense, you have nothing to do with commerce blog actually. The real commerce blog discussion is about Fotozzoom, not you.
August 6th, 2005 at 4:14 pm
So would you resume pinging PPS?
August 6th, 2005 at 10:22 pm
no, yvonne. I will leave the space for other bloggers. I don’t simply made a decision.
August 8th, 2005 at 7:02 pm
Actually, LCF, you don’t have to ping PPS. Your latest posts are already listed on the right tab of the PPS main page. So don’t worry about it
Anyway, I agree that you should just keep mum about your Google Adsense earnings and just blog on. I have benefitted greatly from your Adsense tips, just so to let you know. So just go about your daily business

[...] For example, signs of immaturity has definitely emerged after a recent hooha about commercial blogs and advertisements in general. Bloggers who have received large amounts of revenue from Google’s Adsense program were targeted as being money-minded, with money as the motivation to write while bloggers who like to pepper their blog with foul language seems to be well-loved and even encouraged!
