JARING Wired Broadband Soon?

Filed in: Malaysia, Tmnet — August 24th, 2005

JARING broadband(wired) is coming soon?! The Edge Daily reported that Telekom Malaysia signed a DSL wholesale service agreement with JARING, which allow the latter to have nationwide broadband access.

"Being our first customer, DSL Wholesale Service will provide JARING an instant nationwide broadband access and opportunity to bundle an independent service package in the shortest time and at minimum cost."

"This will assist JARING and other potential service providers to overcome the high levels of investment, capital cost and other obstacles to capture the potentially large broadband market and drive the take-up of broadband access line to meet the objectives of the National Broadband Plan (NBP)," said TM chief operating officer Datuk Baharum Salleh.

[ Thanks, Paul Tan ]

Thought:
It is a good news indeed, though we may not get JARING broadband in year 2005.

We will get more choices and chances are TMNET will improve its service quality and less cases like International link outage.

Currently, JARING provides wireless connection to very limited areas only.

It’s very common that most of the new telecommunication infrastructures are started or piloted in Klang Valley and surrounding areas. Examples are Maxis 3G and Time Broadband

Nothing special about Jaring, they have mentioned that the speed is only up to 1mbps. But hopefully the price will be like RM$50? Hehehehe…
